Florida Dali Museum Is Hosting a Picasso Exhibit

For the first time, recently discovered masterpieces by Pablo Picasso have arrived in the United States as Florida Dali Museum Is Hosting a Picasso Exhibit.

A combination of 79 masterpieces, approximately half of which have never been seen in America, is on presentation at The Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Fla., in partnership with Paris’s Musée Picasso. Rather than focusing on a certain period in Picasso’s life, as many exhibitions do, this one focuses on the motivation he received from a single location: the Spanish-French border.

The exhibit, titled “Picasso and the Allure of the South,” is currently accessible to the public and encompasses more than sixty years of Picasso’s career, featuring his early experimentation, Cubism, and later ventures into Surrealism.

Picasso, who was born in the south of Spain, rose to prominence in France as a result of his work. He painted several of his most outstanding works, including portraits, still lifes, and panoramas, while on leisure in northern Spain’s mountain villages and along the French Riviera.

“We always connected him with Paris,” Peter Tush, senior curator of education at the Dal Museum, told Tampa-based news source WUSF, “but evidently he was quite awkward, very unpleasant in an urban atmosphere.” “He seemed to thrive and change in these kinds of rural Mediterranean regions, and that’s what this show brings forward.”

The exhibition also features historical images of Picasso working in his studios, which provide a frank glimpse at the artist.

Visitors can also use Artificial Intelligence to construct their own Cubist portrait. The museum’s AI system will take a snapshot and turn it into “a one-of-a-kind Cubist work of art,” according to the museum.
